Need ideas for your event?
Here is my current list of topics. Most are 45-60 minutes long, but can be shaved down to fit your requirements. Don’t see what you are looking for? I’m open to collaboration as we follow God’s leading to reach the women in your ministry, together!
Overcoming the Overwhelm – Being a mom is overwhelming. We juggle so much daily, always trying to find a balance (if only we knew what that actually LOOKED like). It’s hard not to always feel like a failure, like you’re always falling behind, like you barely get the urgent things done and never with excellence and NEVER leaving time for important things like spending time with Jesus or, you know, investing in yourself! Marie shares her own struggles with overwhelm and some practical tools for overcoming the cycle together!
Pulling the Veil on Depression – Approximately 14.8 million American adults battle depression. I am one of them. Though I’m silly, sarcastic, jovial and optimistic, I have been battling depression for a decade. I share my personal depression story, God’s truth in the midst of depression, and how one might support a loved one who is in the midst of their own battle. (**This topic fits well with the 2016/2017 MOPS theme: “Starry Eyed means looking for the light even when darkness is enveloping.”)
Why Your Body Image Matters – Most of us live with a general, low-level dissatisfaction with our looks. We have a simmering discontent that remains in the back of our minds, that we think about throughout the day, that impacts how we feel about ourself and others and, ultimately, how we relate to God. Let’s discuss how to find freedom from the constant preoccupation with our looks, and live in gratitude and acceptance for the body God has given us.
Friends Help Friends Stay Happily Married – How do you and your friends talk about your husbands when you are together? How might that be contributing to marital connectedness or strife? How can you pray for your friend’s marriage BEFORE it’s in trouble? Discover simple, yet effective ways to support your friends in marriage!
The Art of Seeking and Accepting Help from Others – For many women, seeking and accepting help is a huge struggle. They feel guilty, embarrassed, or unworthy of asking for help when they need it. But God has called us to love “one another.” A reciprocal call. To both give and receive help. Let’s delve into God’s truth and find greater connection as a community of believers that both accepts and doles out help in turn.
Known By Our Love: Staying Unified In Divisive Times – It’s no secret that our country is divided. Many Christians find themselves on opposite sides of the political spectrum from their brothers and sisters in Christ, and suddenly, respected fellow-Christians are now your opponents. How do we sit in church next to those we fundamentally disagree with? How do we love our brothers and sisters in Christ when we see things so differently? We’ll look at Christ’s commands to his followers as well as the disagreements experienced by the apostles and the early church to find a way to navigate these divisive times and truly be known by our love. (You’ll never figure out who I voted for or where I stand on the issues, but you will learn a lot and laugh pretty hard!)
